In 1877, during a journey to Sweden, Ernst Mayer discovered a totally new way of closing the envelopes, which gave him the idea of opening a workshop in Germany

During the same year the Mayer Company was established: in a rented workshop, six workers were manufacturing envelopes. After sixteen years, the company bought its first headquarter Heilbronn.

One hundred years later, in 1983, a man with the same entrepreneur spirit, Edelf Bartl, bought the Mayer Kuvert Company. Mr. Bartl’s philosophy: “it cannot be done? – impossible!” is a permanent stimulus for accomplishing more.

Today, the Mayer Kuvert Group is the biggest privately owned company for producing envelopes. It is formed out of specialized factories, capable of offering the highest quality products and services.

Our customers profit from our competence in more than 30 sites with more than 2000 employees. Just in Germany, we produce 35 million envelopes daily - in all companies that are integrated within the Mayer-Kuvert-network there are more than 60 Million envelopes produced daily. This results in a volume of over 16 thousand million envelopes per year!

At present we produce your orders on 25 reel-fed machines and 15 sheet-fed envelope machines in Germany. In the whole network, there are more than 90 reel-fed machines and more than 55 sheet-fed machines at our disposal. The Mayer Kuvert Group continuously adapts to its customers' need, this is why we recently started our latest project: MAILmedia.
